About Postpartum Recovery and Return to Exercise Class
This presentation explores the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and how they influence recovery and exercise after birth. We will discuss Diastasis Recti Abdominis, including how to perform a simple self-assessment, understand the role of intra-abdominal pressure, and begin rebuilding core strength safely.
Participants will also learn how to identify pelvic floor muscle tightness versus weakness and understand the primary functions of the pelvic floor. The session addresses common postpartum symptoms such as heaviness, leaking, and lack of core support, and provides guidance on restoring confidence and comfort in movement.
Finally, the presentation covers safe strategies for returning to strength training while preventing pelvic floor dysfunction and worsening abdominal separation. Topics include proper warm-ups, exercise progression (volume, repetitions, and load), and a structured three-month program designed to rebuild strength safely and effectively after pregnancy.
